Bondi to Coogee When the Coast Carves Your Morning
Bondi to Coogee When the Coast Carves Your Morning
The Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk is six kilometers of cliff-top path along Sydney's eastern coastline, and it is the walk that every Sydney resident considers mandatory and every visitor ranks as the highlight of their trip. The trail starts at the south end of Bondi Beach, climbs to the clifftop at Mackenzies Point, and follows the sandstone edge through Tamarama, Bronte, and Clovelly before ending at Coogee Beach.
The ocean is the constant companion — crashing against the rocks below, throwing spray onto the path at Mackenzies, calming to a turquoise pool at Bronte Baths (a free ocean pool carved into the rocks), and then opening up again to the full Pacific at Coogee. The light at seven in the morning is the walk's best argument — golden on the sandstone, silver on the water, and the joggers who run the path daily are the proof that routine does not diminish beauty.
Best time: Early morning any day, any season. Sydney's coastal weather is mild year-round. The walk takes 90 minutes at a moderate pace. Swim at Bronte or Coogee at the end — the ocean pools are free and perfect.
